YG Entertainment to take legal measures against malicious rumors about their artists
YG Entertainment has announced that they will no longer tolerate the ongoing, malicious rumors about the company’s celebrities. The company stated that they plan to take legal action against perpetrators who spread baseless rumors.
On November 3rd, YG Entertainment stated, “We’ve recently heard malicious rumors involving our stars and marijuana usage, including Park Bom, Sandara Park, and Minzy. These rumors have been spreading on news outlets, stock reports, and social networking sites. They are absolute nonsense.”
They continued, “At first, it was so ridiculous that we simply ignored the rumors. However, the rumors were spreading so fast that we have decided we will no longer tolerate the situation anymore. We plan on taking legal measures with an attorney.”
YG Entertainment further stressed, “We will say this again, these rumors are absolutely false, so fans do not need to worry. There are some media outlets, news outlets, and stock reports that have been reporting on these false stories. We plan on taking legal action against them for defamation and spreading false information.”
They continued, “We will submit a formal complaint tomorrow [November 4th] in the morning. Furthermore, we plan on investigating anyone who is related to the cause of the problem with the help of Seoul’s Cyber Police.”
YG Entertainment’s stocks have been taking a hard hit because of these drug-related scandals. The agency reportedly lost around 3 billion Korean Won ($2.7 million USD) in total over G-Dragon‘s marijuana scandal, as their stock prices dropped from 24,600 to 22,100 Korean Won per share ($22 to $20 USD). At this time, reports regarding the current status of their stocks over these new developments have yet to be revealed.

KBS once again denies JYJ’s appearance on ‘Music Bank’
JYJ‘s agency and KBS are at it once again over the issue of JYJ’s appearance on KBS’s ‘Music Bank’.
Back in May, KBS left a note on their website explaining why JYJ was barred from appearing on their music program. The note read, “JYJ’s lawsuit has yet to come to an end, and KBS is objectively observing this lawsuit… From a business perspective, however, allowing a celebrity who is in the midst of a legal dispute to appear on a broadcast can have a negative impact. Therefore, their appearance on ‘Music Bank’ will not be allowed.”
Responding, JYJ had said, “The lawsuit regarding JYJ’s contract with SM Entertainment (which KBS was referring to) was already acknowledged by the court as lopsided and disadvantageous to JYJ, and the contract was subsequently nullified. We believe that KBS’s stance does not match up with the facts. We strongly request for them to make corrections on their part.”
As fans continued to vocalize their objections, KBS changed their stance to, “JYJ hasn’t been able to make an appearance because they haven’t released an official album. If they release an album, then of course they’ll be allowed to chart [on 'Music Bank'].”
Now that the boys have indeed released an official album (and it’s been doing quite well on the charts), fans revived their petitions to see JYJ perform on ‘Music Bank’. It seems that KBS is flip-flopping on the issue once again, however, as they released the following statement through their website on October 19th:
“Although the official album and the injunction situation has changed, the lawsuit between SM and JYJ is still in process. The court has not made an official decision. We have to put a hold on the appearance of a celebrity who is in the middle of a lawsuit, and see how it progresses; until a decision comes out, our position will not change.”
JYJ’s agency, C-JeS, stated, “JYJ is in the midst of a lawsuit to straighten out the unfair contract that violates the personal rights of an artist, and the court has declared that JYJ was allowed to continue on with their promotions a second time. If KBS sticks to this position, then they need to present evidence that they will determine the appearance of all celebrities through these same standards.”
“If KBS respects the decision of the courts, they need to carry out the court’s decision, which state that JYJ is free to carry out their promotions. They should fulfill their duty as a public broadcast station.”
JYJ is currently receiving a lot of love for their Korean album from within Korea as well as overseas, and is planning to embark on a world tour.

YG Entertainment is scheduled to hold large-scale concerts in both Korea and Japan for approximately 200,000 fans in December of this year and early 2012. What will be most exciting for the fans, however, is that Big Bang‘s Daesung will be making his comeback, performing on stage at these concerts.

We will hold three concerts for about 40,000 guests per show at the Olympic Hall in Seoul on December 3rd & 4th, then on January 7th and 8th, perform two shows for about 80,000 guests per concert at the Osaka Colosseum, and finally 2 shows at the Saitama Super Arena on January 21st & 22nd for about 80,000 guests each show.”
‘YG Family Concert’ is an event that has taken place regularly since YG Entertainment was established in 1997. Each of the label’s artists put on individual performance to express their unique talents and skills, and also collaborate to put on a colorful show for their fans. The concert is one in which both the audience and the artists can truly enjoy themselves.
This year is a an especially noteworthy milestone for YG, as they celebrate their 15th anniversary and thus, this year’s YG Family Concert should be that much more phenomenal, filled with new and exciting performances for their fans.
YG Entertainment has also established a new company ‘YGEX‘ in collaboration with Japanese agency AVEX, and this is the first time since their ten-year anniversary in 2006 that they are performing a YG Family Concert overseas.
Artists that will be performing at the Family Concert include YG’s eldest hyung Se7en, the talented Gummy, the unique and charismatic 2NE1, and Hallyu idol icons Big Bang who made their debut performance at the 10th anniversary YG Family Concert in 2006. G-Dragon’s concert attendance, however, is still TBD.
There will be some new faces at the concert this year as well. Singer Psy who was a guest at the annual concert last year has now become an official YG Entertainment artist and will be performing on stage as a YG family member along with Epik High‘s Tablo, who has also recently signed a record deal with YG Entertainment and released his first solo album.
Big Bang’s Daesung who has been taking a long break since his unexpected car accident in May will be making his comeback performance at the concert, and it will be a joyous one for fans who have been awaiting this very moment.
Ticket sales for the concert begin on October 27th.

Anonymous celebrities being investigated for marijuana usage?
According to a current Korean news article, an anonymous top idol who was caught using marijuana has emerged.
Amidst the current controversy surrounding G-Dragon‘s marijuana case, rumor has it that another top idol from a well-known group was suspected for being involved with marijuana and is currently being investigated. However, results from the investigation have yet to be revealed to the public.
Upon the release of these rumors, representatives of the entertainment industry are paying close attention to further details.
One entertainment representative shared, “Starting from last year, there has been a series of strict marijuana investigations in the entertainment industry.”
One actor, who requested to remain anonymous, shared, “Among celebrities, there have been several stars who have been suspected. They have been examined by investigators and many celebrities are worried that another marijuana case will emerge and make headlines.”
Law enforcement officers who were involved in these investigations were tight lipped as they said, “We will not comment on the issue.”
Due to the immense negative impact on celebrities who are spotlighted by media outlets for marijuana usage, law enforcement officers are taking the matter very cautiously.
Many have voiced their opinions on the matter stating that the marijuana controversies can severely damage the growth of the Hallyu Wave which has been gaining massive attention across the globe.
One Japanese leading magazine publisher announced, “G-Dragon received a marijuana joint given by a fan in a Japanese club. He mistook it as a cigarette and took 2-3 puffs. After the release of this news, the Hallyu movement in Japan has subsided a little. It is possible that the entire Kpop market could face a crisis due to G-Dragon’s marijuana case.”
One entertainment company cautiously shared their thoughts, sayin, “This marijuana controversy can bring out a whole new series of investigations in the industry.”
As of today, several well known public figures have fallen prey to these marijuana investigations.
One example is actor Kim Sung Min who was taken into police custody on December 4, 2010 for possession and usage of methamphetamine and marijuana. While undergoing investigation, the actor revealed, “There are 10 additional entertainers who I know that are involved in illegal drug use and trafficking.”
The most recent example would be G-Dragon who inhaled marijuana in May at a Japanese club. His hair drug test came out to be positive in July for the presence of marijuana. Fortunately his indictment was suspended due to several factors including age, criminal motive, and remorse.

Star King staff encourages Kang Ho Dong to return
The last episode of SBS‘ ‘Star King‘ featuring Kang Ho Dong as the lead MC aired on the 8th. The legendary MC that’s been with the program since it’s inception in January of 2007 has recently retired after being under fire for suspicion of tax evasion.
Because he retired so suddenly without notice, both the ‘Star King’ staff and Kang Ho Dong didn’t really have an opportunity to properly say their goodbyes. The staff, however, sent their encouragement through a caption on their last episode.
On the final episode, a guest who has been making Korean miso for the past 35 years guest-featured and shared his story. He was involved in a scam that led to him losing his entire fortune including his home, and to make matters worse, his mother suddenly became ill and currently lays on what may be her death bed. He can no longer produce Korean miso to support himself.
Staff members aired captions that read, “It may have felt like the world turned against you and you had no safe haven, but now we shall look forward to a new you that will dust yourself off to once again rise to your feet.”
This message, however, wasn’t directed solely for the guest. It was also a way for Star King to tell Kang Ho Dong to quickly return. Shots of both the guest and Kang Ho Dong were edited to display together, with the encouraging caption underneath.
‘Star King’ PD Bae Sungwoo informed NoCutNews, “We selected Park Namsoo as the final guest on the show so that we could end the show by encouraging both him and Kang Ho Dong.”
He continued, “There’s not much we at the program can do to help, but we want to offer him some strength… Kang Ho Dong worked really well with both the guest-starring celebrities and the featured guests on the show. He laughed with them and cried with them.”
“I know his current situation so at the moment there’s nothing much I can say to him except that I want him to return and work with us once again. We will keep our ears close to the ground for him.”
Boom & Super Junior‘s Lee Teuk have been selected to serve as the new MC duo for the show, and the first episode with the new official MCs will air on the 15th.

JYJ’s “In Heaven” is still blocked from music programs
Fans had high hopes for “In Heaven“, but it seems the restrictions imposed on JYJ are still going strong, as the trio recently revealed that their album still can’t be performed on air (despite charting at the top for four weeks in a row now).
Representatives of JYJ revealed, “We have never received an offer to perform on music programs. Even if we bring the album with us to meet them, they never call back. The album is creating waves on the Hanteo chart right now but it’s not being reflected onto the music program charts, which we find difficult to understand.”
They continued, “Music programs weren’t able to give a logical and fair reason as to why they were rejecting JYJ, but it seems they just simply don’t care anymore and are acting like they don’t notice what’s going on.”
Despite the cold treatment, the boys are going strong, selling out their European tour and being invited to foreign festivals left and right.

2NE1′s CL scandalizes netizens for offensive language on her sweater
The photos have become a controversial issue, as netizens spotted offensive language on the sweater CL wore that day.
Phrases such as ‘f*** everything’, ‘take my tits’, and ‘cut here’ written near the neckline could be read on CL’s top.
Many netizens were shocked by CL’s choice to wear an outfit that included such language and left criticisms saying, “For an idol who has such a strong influence on teenagers, this is an inappropriate outfit,” and “There’s no way CL didn’t know what the phrases meant, since she is fluent in English.”
However, other netizens came to CL’s defense and argued, “It’s just fashion, there’s nothing wrong with having those phrases on a shirt“, and some insisted, “This was not a public meeting, we cannot judge her for the outfits she chooses to wear during her own personal time.”
It was also revealed that the design of the sweater was derived from a work of art by British artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster.
What do you guys think, was it wrong of CL to wear an outfit that included such sensitive language, or is there nothing wrong with merely trying to express herself through her fashion?
